ecobee Sale and Smart Thermostat Black Friday 2026: The Prices to Beat
Is ecobee on Sale Right Now?
Not new ones, as of November 7. Amazon’s small early discounts are gone: on November 7, 2026, it had the Premium at $255.00, the Enhanced at $194.00 and the Essential at $139.00, within $6 of list (on November 4 they were $245.00, $176.41 and $132.99). ecobee.com still listed all three at full price ($259.99, $199.99, $139.99) with a “Black Friday is coming” sign-up.
The real discounts right now are refurbished. ecobee’s Certified Refurbished models were Premium $219.99 (from $259.99), Enhanced $169.99 (from $199.99) and ecobee3 lite $119.99 (from $149.99) on November 7. A refurbished Premium at $219.99 already matches last year’s $220 Black Friday price for a new one.
What a real Black Friday deal looks like: last year Amazon had the Premium at $220, the Enhanced at $170 and the Essential at $119 (9to5Toys). None of today’s Amazon prices beats that yet; a new Premium at or below about $220 would match it. This year’s Amazon Labor Day sale was already lower than today: Premium $230, Enhanced $170, Essential $120 (9to5Toys, August 27, 2026). Full ecobee details in the ecobee section below.
Often cheaper than any sale: your utility. Many electric utilities sell ecobee thermostats in their own online stores with an instant rebate, usually for their customers only. Enter your ZIP in ecobee’s Rebate Finder before you buy, and see utility rebates below.
The Short Answer
A smart thermostat is a good Black Friday buy only if the price beats last year’s. The table shows each maker’s current list price and the lowest Black Friday price reported for it last year, with the source. Anything at or below the right-hand column is a genuine deal; anything above it you can probably get again later.

Where prices stand on November 7: the Nest Learning Thermostat (4th gen) is still $219.99 on Amazon with a sensor in the box: $60 under list and already below last year’s $229.99 Google Store deal, though $10 above the one-color $209.99 Amazon price. If you were waiting for a Nest Learning deal, this is close to it. The Nest Thermostat is $89.99, unchanged since November 4 and about $5 above last year’s $84.97 Black Friday price, so wait. The ecobee models are back within $6 of list, $20 to $35 above last year’s deal prices, so wait for them too. The Honeywell X2S is $63.00, about $17 under its $79.99 maker list price, with no Black Friday record to compare against.
Two things stand out. ecobee raised its list prices since last November, so a Premium at $220 would now be about $40 off, not $30. And the Nest Learning Thermostat’s best price last year was on one color only; the Google Store price applied to every finish.

ecobee Black Friday Sale 2026: Prices to Beat
On Amazon on November 7: Premium $255.00 (list $259.99), Enhanced $194.00 (list $199.99) and Essential $139.00 (list $139.99). Last Black Friday Amazon had them at $220, $170 and $119 (9to5Toys), so a Premium at or below about $220, an Enhanced at or below $170 or an Essential at or below $119 matches last year’s deal. All three are $20 to $35 away, and this year’s Labor Day sale ($230, $170, $120) was already lower, so do not buy new at today’s price.
Watch the bundles: last year’s Premium with two extra SmartSensors was $250 against a stated $340. Which ecobee to buy: Premium vs Enhanced vs Essential.

When the Sales Start
Black Friday is Friday, November 27, 2026, and Cyber Monday is November 30. Last year Amazon ran its Black Friday Week sale from November 20 to December 1, so expect thermostat discounts about a week before the day itself.
Amazon held its Prime Big Deal Days on October 6 and 7 this year, which TechRadar describes as the start of the Black Friday season. Amazon had not announced its 2026 Black Friday dates as of October 23.
Check Your Utility First: It Often Beats Black Friday
Many utilities sell ENERGY STAR thermostats through their own online stores with an instant rebate taken off at checkout, and some also pay a rebate after you buy. These are often far bigger than any retail discount. Examples we found in October 2026:
- Duke Energy: its online store lists the Honeywell Home X2S at $9.99 after a $60 instant rebate, for products installed at the address on the purchasing account.
- Atmos Energy (Mississippi): the X2S shows $0.00 after an $84.99 instant rebate for Atmos customers in Mississippi with a natural gas furnace, while funds last.
- California: Golden State Rebates offer up to $60 on smart thermostats for PG&E, SCE, SDG&E and SoCalGas residential customers.
- New York City: Con Edison pays an $85 rebate for enrolling a smart thermostat in its program.
To find yours, enter your ZIP code in the ENERGY STAR Rebate Finder. Rebates usually require an ENERGY STAR certified model, which every thermostat in the table above is. Our rebates by state page lists more programs.
Which One to Buy
- Most homes with a C wire, on a budget: Honeywell Home X2S. It is our top pick in the best smart thermostats under $100, and both utility stores above discount it.
- No C wire: see the best smart thermostats without a C wire before buying; some models above need one or an adapter.
- Heat pump: see the best thermostat for a heat pump.
- ecobee or Nest: our ecobee vs Nest comparison covers prices, subscriptions and support lifetimes.
- ENERGY STAR puts the typical saving from a certified smart thermostat at about 8% of heating and cooling bills. That comes from schedules and away modes, which every model here has, so a cheaper thermostat used well beats an expensive one left on manual.
Black Friday Traps to Avoid
- Bundle “regular” prices. Bundles are compared with the sum of their parts. Last year ecobee’s Premium with two extra sensors was $250 against a stated $340; if you don’t need the sensors, the thermostat alone is the deal.
- The wrong generation. Check the listing says Nest Learning Thermostat (4th gen) and ecobee’s current model names; older stock is sometimes sold alongside.
- C-wire surprises. Several cheap models need a C wire. Check your wiring before the sale so you don’t end up returning it.
- Discontinued energy monitors. Sense stopped selling in-panel monitors on December 31, 2025. A discounted Sense is old stock; see the best home energy monitors for what to buy instead.
